Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Diagnose and identify hardware failures and adjust, replace or repair telecommunications equipment

  • Check the operation of telecommunications equipment

  • Install, arrange, remove and maintain telephone equipment, cables and related hardware

  • Repair or replace faulty telephone equipment

  • Check installed telephone networks for transmission interruptions

  • Analyze test results and adjust, modify or repair backhaul systems, networks and related equipment and software

  • Complete test reports and maintain test and service records

  • Establish the nature, cause and location of the breakdown

  • Arrange to dispatch appropriate repair personnel

  • Install electromechanical, analog and digital systems, circuits and equipment in telephone exchanges and switching centers

  • Use computerized testing systems to conduct service testing of subscriber lines and equipment
